Mrs. Clifton applied to work with Placeworks because she recently developed an adaptive art program for students in Ash Grove with special needs. These students previously did not have a consistent art experience, but this year have been enjoying time designed just for them in the art room every Tuesday and Thursday morning. Seven very responsible A+ tutors help with this class and play a big role in making sure everyone has what they need and provide any assistance.
Mrs. Clifton wanted Placeworks to partner with her in developing an adaptive art experience involving clay. She has been busy working on developing a small green space near her classroom into a garden and outdoor learning space where student artwork can be displayed. In addition, Mrs. Clifton wanted her students' artwork from Placeworks to be displayed in Springfield and for them to visit that display as a field trip experience once the projects are finished.
We have achieved colorful wind chime success! We've still got big things planned for this group: including a collaborative clay wall hanging project for outside and a field trip!
